TETFund Official Visits to NABCOTECH

TETFund Official Visits to NABCOTECH

Architect Uchendu I. Wogu of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund), Abuja, and the Director, Centre for Disability and Special Needs Research (CENDASNAR), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Williams Obiozor, has paid a courtesy visit to the Nation Builders College of Technology, Asaba.

The visit was at the instance of Prof. Obiozor, the pioneer Rector of the College, on Friday, October 29, 2021, to brainstorm for windows for possible partnership and research assistance from Tetfund, as well as the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

In a meeting with the management committee, after inspection of the College facilities, Wogu expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and training equipment available at the College. He compared NABCOTECH with a certain institution he visited in Malaysia whose sole aim was to identify the employment needs of multinational companies, and thus, training students for that purpose which, to him, is in line with the IEI institution(NABCOTECH). He urged the College to tow in that line by identifying the labour need in Asaba and its environs, such as the Airport, various companies and Hotels.

He advised the management of NABCOTECH to partner with public schools in the area of research, so as to access the National Research Fund(NRF), since TETfund doesn’t give funds to private institutions. He noted that it was achievable with Prof. Obiozor of UNIZIK.

NABCOTECH Digest reports that TETfund is an intervention agency set up to provide supplementary support to all levels of public tertiary institutions with the main objective of using funding, alongside project management for the rehabilitation, restoration and consolidation of Tertiary Education in Nigeria. Its major source of fund is the tax payers, and a higher percentage of these tax payers are private tertiary institutions who are supposed to be first beneficiary of TETfund
